Been in Uganda for 10 years now, and this is the best place for a cut & styling... they even do expat hair (straight hair, I mean). Their service-levels are extraordinary and all their staff are very professional and friendly.

We asked for price for a specific hair (twists) on their whats app. They told us it's 250k. They booked us an appointment at 12:00pm, but when we came there they weren't prepared at all, they had no braids, we had to wait for over 4 hours just for them getting the braids! At the end we were at the saloon for 7 hours. Yes SEVEN HOURS. What's the use of the appointment even! Crazy. At the end they billed us even a different amount of 300k, they said it was for braids. So again, what is the point of asking for the price and making an appointment if everything is not as it's suppose to be or promised.We went back the following day to put out the hair they did. They didn't even bother to ask why or anything. They were just giving us this weird looks and they talking behind our backs. The worst experience ever. The saloon is overrated by far. Worst customer service. They keep offering this plastic glass of water every time, for that price you should get a proper local meal. Price vs. Service = not worth it.

While the studio is neat and professional, I have had inconsistent quality of service (I still think this is one of the better studios in Kampala). The first time I went it was fantastic! I had a shampoo/conditioning and box braids. I was finished in less than 5 hours, and the price was clear. Unfortunately, the second time was not as good. At the beginning of the appointment, I was told the cost was 180k. When I went to pay, it was 285k. During the appointment, I had to repeatedly tell the stylists what I thought was common knowledge for working with natural hair---detangle with a wide tooth comb, begin from the ends, work toward the roots, and be gentle around the edges/hairline. I had asked for french curls and many of the extensions were glued with my natural hair. Moreover, the braids themselves were twisted without a uniform shape. After conversation with the owner (in which they profusely apologized), they agreed to redo my hair at no additional cost (which I greatly appreciated). The third time, it was much more pleasant and the braids were much higher quality (i.e., evenly distributed across the scalp and had a uniform shape). I still had to consistently remind stylists to detangle when the hair was damp, use a wide comb, add a moisturizer, start at the ends. I also had to repeatedly tell the braider to use less gel (which he did not do consistently) and add a bit of a moisturizer (he did not do consistently either). Here are three ways I think the studio could improve: 1. Transparent pricing--give an accurate estimate before the services begin 2. Braiders/stylists could learn techniques to treat/work with long, natural (4c) hair (e.g., gentle detangling with damp hair, using a wide tooth comb, adding moisturizer, minimizing the use of gel) 3. Honoring client requests *consistently*. After I express a preference (e.g., add moisturizer to a section), I shouldn't have to constantly remind the braider/stylist of the preference.

First time I went there, it was okay, I liked the service and professionalism, but the second time I was disappointed because I made an appointment and also shared the picture of hairstyle I wanted on WhatsApp,but when I went there on the day of the appointment, they had not prepared my Locs and just apologized so I ended up leaving, I decided to give them a chance and booked again, when I got there, I wasn’t in the system and they told me to sit down, I waited for 30 minutes and no one was attending to me, I decided to move out and they didn’t even call me back to check,I don’t know if this happens to others as well or it’s just me, The services are very poor when Zziwa himself is not around, never going back there!!!!
