I stayed at the Protea Hotel by Marriott Entebbe for one night to avoid having to travel from Kampala to Entebbe early in the morning for a flight. The biggest positive is the service. The staff were incredibly helpful, friendly, and attentive throughout our stay. The free airport shuttle, which runs every 30 minutes, is also very convenient. The property itself was clean and well maintained from a housekeeping perspective. Unfortunately, the hotel itself is very dated and in serious need of renovation. Both the lobby and the rooms feel old, especially considering that this is a Marriott property and the price is around USD 250 per room per night. We had two rooms booked. One was a lake-view suite on the first floor. While the view was nice, there was some mold in the bathroom, and the sound insulation was very poor. The windows are old and do little to block outside noise, and we could also clearly hear guests in the rooms above and next to us. Our second room faced the other direction and was uncomfortably warm. Overall, the location is extremely convenient for Entebbe Airport and the staff deserve a lot of credit for providing excellent service. However, at around USD 250 per night, the condition of the hotel simply does not justify the price. The property is in urgent need of a comprehensive renovation. Until that happens, I would only recommend it for the convenience of being close to the airport, rather than for the overall hotel experience.

The hotel is clean and strategically located. The food is of variety and tasty. Breakfast is great with fresh fruits. We have always been served by Fahad in the restaurant and he has been excellent made us feel home. He also provides additional information about what the hotel offers etc. Great guy indeed.

The main advantage of Protea Hotel Entebbe is its unbeatable location—right across from the airport, which makes it extremely convenient, especially for short stays or early/late flights. The setting on Lake Victoria is also beautiful, with lovely views and a relaxing atmosphere. This was not my first stay here, and during my previous visit, everything—from service to rooms to food—was excellent. Unfortunately, this time the experience was not as strong. The restaurant food was still very good, especially dinner, the restaurant manager was very nice and food came out quickly but the service overall at the hotel felt a bit overwhelmed and inconsistent. Upon arrival, I was initially given a room with a strong unpleasant smell and a non-functioning AC. After raising the issue, I was eventually moved to another room, which was better but smaller and not quite what I expected. I also requested to speak with a manager, but unfortunately never received a follow-up, which was disappointing. Overall, the hotel still has great potential due to its location and views, but service and room quality could be more consistent. This stay did not match the excellent experience I had previously.

A wonderful hotel perfectly located near the airport and right by the water. The views of Lake Victoria are simply beautiful, making it an ideal place to relax before or after a flight. I especially enjoyed the great African tea and the peaceful atmosphere. The service is outstanding, friendly, attentive, and welcoming. From the comfortable rooms to the serene surroundings, everything about Protea Hotel Entebbe is top-notch. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Entebbe!
