​I am extremely disappointed with my experience at Eben Pork Joint. I placed my order at 7:33 PM, and the food did not reach the table until 9:45 PM.
​Waiting over two hours for a meal is unacceptable, but what made the experience worse was the complete lack of professionalism:

​Zero Communication: Despite the massive delay, not a single member of the staff approached us to explain the wait or offer an apology. We were left completely in the dark.

​Poor Customer Service: The staff seemed indifferent to the situation. There is a clear lack of management and respect for the customers' time.

​Subpar Presentation: After waiting for over two hours, you would at least expect the food to be worth the wait. Instead, the presentation was messy and unappealing—it looked like it had been thrown onto the plate without any care.

Please do better!!

Really lovely place with amazing food, great drinks and good staff. You can pay by card at the pork part but at the bar you need cash or momo etc - I paid with Nala which made it really easy. Will definitely come again when in Kampala

The roasted pork quality has reduced. They now first boil it then roast it. It only dries at the top and remains boiled wet meat inside. Better off going with the fried option.

Eben Pork Joint is a great place to enjoy delicious pork.

The place is accessible and has a washing bay for your convenience. The staff are helpful and professional, and they serve the pork with a variety of sauces and sides.

The only downside is that the parking is very limited  Overall, I recommend Eben pork joint for a satisfying meal. 🐷

Jikoni’s in Kampala feels like that rare kind of restaurant you want to “keep to yourself”… right up until you bring your friends along and end up recommending it anyway. It sits in a great location—easy to get to, easy to meet up at—and once you walk in, it opens up into a space that’s wonderfully unbothered: ample seating, good flow, and the kind of setup that works whether you’re slipping in for a casual meal or settling down for a proper evening.

The ambiance is the sweet spot. Warm without trying too hard, stylish but still grounded, and comfortable in a way that makes you relax almost immediately. It’s the kind of place where conversations stretch, laughter lingers, and you don’t feel rushed to “wrap it up” the moment your plates are cleared.

Now, the food. My friends and I shared a Chicken Luwombo, and it was the kind of dish that quietly steals the show—comforting, richly flavoured, and deeply satisfying. But what really pulled everything together were the sides: plenty of them, all tasty, and generous enough that sharing felt like an experience rather than a compromise. It’s the sort of spread that makes you look at the table and think, yes, this is exactly how we should be eating.

If you’re in Kampala and you want a delicious, approachable introduction to Ugandan cuisine—served in a setting that feels both relaxed and elevated—Jikoni’s makes it easy. Come hungry, come with company, and don’t be surprised if it becomes one of your repeat spots.

Fast and friendly service. Very responsive and polite! Although pricey, you should try the buffet. I wouldn't say it's value for money though?! But it's great.

A great restaurant with good local food. Good food, good portions, good service, good ambiance. Enough parking for a number of cars, with stewards who are quite helpful. However, the place had too many flies when we visited. & it took forever to bring candles, which didn't help much anyway. They can do a bit better with that.

So my friend took me to try Luwombo, a traditional Ugandan dish. I found the meat steamed in banana leaves quite interesting, but to be honest, there was far too much fat on it for my taste — and I couldn’t even tell whether it was goat or beef. Next time, I think I’d go for the chicken version instead.
The plate with rice, potatoes, bananas, and cassava, paired with beans and peanut sauce, was an incredible experience — rich, earthy, and unlike anything I’ve had before.
Unfortunately, the service really let the place down. I asked for the bill three times with no result. In the end, I had to walk up to the reception desk and wait there just to pay.

We ordered pasta and lasagna. It took about 30 minutes to get it, but it was worth the wait.

The lasagna portion is more than double what is usually served in Europe and other places in the world. So, consider ordering one lasagna for two people.

We found Italiano wonderful. Your Pizza stands out more than any other place in Uganda that I have been to and meets the international stands. Your friendly staff, extra hygiene and on time orders in addition to your fresh mouth watering dishes make this small place homely in Mbarara. We sincerely look forward to another chance to visit this place. The manager is greatly polite.

Great Italian restaurant in Mbarara! I have had a few dinners and breakfasts here, and will continue to go back! All the food is great, the place is clean, and the staff are wonderful. The avocado toast was one of the best breakfasts I have had!! Food is very fresh and prices are good, would definitely recommend stopping by!

this is the only delicious pizza I order from Mbarara.  among my favorites are pizza with mushrooms and Quatro Formagi

I had high expectations for this restaurant, but unfortunately the experience was disappointing from the moment we arrived. The receptionist at the front desk demonstrated a surprising lack of manners and professionalism, showing little respect or courtesy toward guests. Her attitude created an unwelcoming atmosphere and set a negative tone for our visit. For an establishment that should value hospitality, this level of customer service is unacceptable.

It's the best restaurant in the city and you should try their food ,it's the best for kids .the place has smooth music as you have your dinner or lung or breakfast

They cook delicious meals and good environment to visit with friends.

Quality local food and a good place to hang out with friends and family though a bit compacted.

Very authentic Indian restaurant not far from Forest Mall. Food is good, especially during the Sunday buffet (40k adults) where you can try veg and non veg starters from tandur, mane course dishes and sweets. Good view on the sports area where you can see crickets.

Just overlooking the cricket oval is this lovely eatery. With such a diverse menu, Indian cuisine was my favourite. The food as tasty and served with nice presentation. Though the place is quite hidden and has limited parking, it creates nice cacoon for dinners both inside and outside settings. This experience was even made better with the real rabbits running around the floor. It's a must try.

One of the finest Indian restaurant in Kampala. Provides you a fine dining experience. Authentic Indian taste, meat platters can be recommend. Adjacent to cricket stadium, you can watch matches if any while enjoying food. Near to Luggogo and Game.

Comfort with luxury. Very welcoming, great lighting and service. Wonderful people

Last night in Kampala, I found myself at Torino—and honestly, it’s the kind of place you stroll into “just to try it” and then end up staying way longer than planned.

First thing you notice is the ambience. It’s warm, relaxed, and effortlessly put together—the sort of setting that makes you sink into your seat and start acting like you’ve got nowhere else to be. And the music? Chef’s kiss. Good tracks, good mood, and (thankfully) at the right volume. Loud enough to feel the vibe, soft enough to keep your conversation flowing without turning dinner into a debate competition.

Now, let’s talk about the food—because Torino doesn’t do stingy portions. The plates come out generous and inviting, the kind that make you pause for a second like, “Okay… they’re not playing.” Everything tastes hearty and satisfying, and if you’re craving that comforting semblance of Ugandan food—those familiar, grounding flavors that feel like home—this spot absolutely hits the mark.

If you’re in Kampala and you want a place that feels good, sounds good, and feeds you properly, Torino is a solid yes. Come hungry, come chilled, and give yourself time—you’ll want to linger.

Loved loved the place , the food was delicious and the waiter really called for us and keep asking us if we needed any thing.... definitely going back soon

Mixed Feelings – Great Food, but a Serious Security & Staff Issue

Torino Bar has a cool atmosphere and, unfortunately, one of the most frustrating experiences we had during our stay.

On our second night, at the entrance of Torino Bar, I was refused access by a female security staff member because I was carrying a small Insta360 camera. Although, I suggest to simply put it in my bag and that everyone inside already has cameras on their phones, she and her colleagues still denied entry. The decision made absolutely no sense and felt unnecessarily rigid and unfriendly.

While walking back to the car and reporting the incident to my partner, I was distracted and upset — and that’s when a boda boda rider passed by and snatched my phone. I screamed, and several security guards appeared quickly, but by then it was too late. The police later even mentioned that it may have been a setup, which is extremely concerning for a place that is supposed to be secure.

Two days later, we returned with police officers who were investigating the theft. That was when we were finally able to experience the food and service.

To be fair: the food was very good. We tried goat, fish, and rabbit, and the rabbit was excellent, though all dishes were nicely prepared. The waitress was competent and attentive, and the South African red wine she recommended was surprisingly good. It’s not Italian or French wine quality, but for Uganda/Africa, it was a pleasant surprise.

Still, I’m giving a low rating because the entire theft and the subsequent hacking of my accounts could likely have been avoided if the entrance security had acted reasonably and professionally. The contradiction of banning a small camera while allowing millions of smartphones with cameras inside is hard to justify. If a bribe was expected, I didn’t understand it — and even if I had, I would not have paid!!!

Good food and ambiance cannot fully compensate for poor judgment, unfriendly staff behavior, and a serious safety incident.

Friday night vibe is a bit lame, the dj plays anything and tried to go for crowd pleasers which killed the vibe. Think they need to pick a theme and turn the volume a little down so we are not all shouting like it’s a market. Service and food are great

I was there on a Thursday. Nice hangout with Janzi Live band from 8pm, but it was quite crowded. So the waiters and waitresses were also over occupied.  But maybe it's just the day. Also, it's a hangout for Govt officials 😎

@la_cueva offers exquisite dining in #KampalaNtinda.

Had dinner at this restaurant whilst on a business trip in Uganda. Wow, everything was great. The atmosphere and layout was stunning. The waiters and service we experienced was impeccable.

As for the food, well that was a complete different story. The food was at another level. Hats off to their chefs as they sure know what they are doing. I had the full grilled tilapia and my colleague had the pan fried goat. And the side of plantain, well all I can say is, have it. Both dishes were worthy of being on any of the best restaurants globally.

Would I recommend a meal there? Without a doubt - YES!!!

The service is great, the seating and ambience is spot on and the food is a global and thoughtful selection.
The banana pancakes were worth reordering, the bagel sandwich a bit dry, and the scramble a nice tasty dish.

I was looking forward to eating at The Patio and honestly I was not dissapointed.
Very very good service that cares about your experience.
The food was splendid and tasty cocktails.
It has a really good  and calm ambience.

It has a lovely ambiance. The food was nice, just okay. I had pork ribs and chips. I had a chocolate milkshake as well, that was yummy. I was served by Edrine and he was sweet and amazing. I’d definitely come back.

Probably one of the best restaurants in KLA. I’ve been to at least 20 of the top rated and their service was great. Good selection of prime meat, and seafood. Amos was our waiter and he was attentive.

Worst service ever.nJust been at the restaurant, made an order at 19:24. Dinner for two, ordered for a pork meal , a coke and tea…nWe had to plead for the waitress to bring the tea and the bread(which is usually served at first sit).n1 hour and 30 minutes later she come by, to Mbu to apologize for the day and 30 minutes later after we complain they have the guts to say they will pay for the drinks we had had….nnSocial degrading, ohhh you have to look a certain way to be served here…nnThe most annoying part is that the tables next us kept getting what ever they ordered in minutes. While we sat and carried our hands…nBtw you should all be ashamed of yourselves… and the manager all acting rose… we came there because we were sure we could pay our bills… we dnt come for free drinks? Cole and black tea) as if….nnIt’s so sad that fellow Ugandans are acting like this…. You dnt even have to put stars in your site..:. You guys are trash for real.

The food was a 20/10 😂 the environment was very beautiful, with the help of Florence , we felt at home and her service was top notch , i am sure that this is going to be the my next best chill out spot in town .

Perfect place every one wouldn't miss out for there dishes  or meeting

It's been a year since I last came here, and I can't say it was as wonderful as I remembered it to be.nnThe place is slightly rundown - I mean it shows the wear and tear of age - and really could do with a refreshed decor or simply coats of paint and varnish.nnBut don't get me wrong... It's very clean, well kept, and beautiful.nnThe prices have always been expensive, but it's now stratospheric! $$$$$ Definitely incredibly expensive, despite the fact that about 80% of their menu is based on items sourced locally. So it's a bit of a head-scratcher.nnService was extremely subpar. Despite specifically describing an allergy, and then checking with the waiter before he departed to the kitchen, the food still came without meeting our requirements.nnThe waiter also attempted to clear away plates before we finished eating! 😅 Some very officious people (ministers, maybe) arrived at the neighboring table, and people kept joining every 5-10 minutes. So the waiter probably wanted to chase us away so he could add our table to their growing complement of people.nnMeanwhile, the food was very good! The chicken was a little dry, but everything else was perfect.nnThey were running a special course on Angus and Wagyu steak... I was tempted, but the eye watering prices kept me in check!nnDespite asking for the coldest beer they have, I was served one that was tepid at best.
